Math 146: Introduction to Statistics

Course Description
Math 146 is an introduction to statistical methods and applications. Topics include: organization of data; sampling; probability; confidence intervals, testing hypotheses; regression and correlation.
Who should take this course?
Students from a wide variety of disciplines, including sciences, business and social sciences, take this course. You should consult the planning sheet for your program and consult an advisor to determine if this course is required.
Who is eligible to take this course?
The prerequisite for this course is Math 90 with a grade of 2.0 or higher. Students new to EdCC with an appropriately high Accuplacer score may also consider taking Math 146.

What textbook is used for this course?
The third edition of Intro Stats by Richard De Veaux, Paul Velleman and David Bock.
What else is required for this course?
Students are required to have a graphing calculator; the TI-83 Plus or TI-84 Plus is recommended.
When is this course offered?
Daytime and evening sections of Math 146 are offered each quarter, including Summer Quarter. Online sections are offered Fall, Winter and Spring Quarters.
