Math 90: Intermediate Algebra
- Course Description
- Math 90 is intended to prepare students for college-level mathematics courses. It covers some of the topics of Math 80 and introduces additional topics, including rational exponents, complex numbers, and an introduction to functions with an emphasis on linear functions.
- Who should take this course?
- Generally, students who have satisfactorily completed Math 80, or students who place into Math 90 via the Accuplacer placement test. You should consult the planning sheet for your program and consult an advisor to determine if this course is appropriate for you.
- Who is eligible to take this course?
- The prerequisite for this course is Math 80 with a grade of 2.0 or higher. Students new to EdCC with an appropriately high Accuplacer score may also consider taking Math 90.
- Is this course transferable?
- This course does not transfer to a four-year university such as the University of Washington.
- What textbook is used for this course?
- The sixth edition of Understanding Intermediate Algebra by Arthur Goodman and Lewis Hirsch.
- When is this course offered?
- Daytime and online sections of Math 90 are offered each quarter, including Summer Quarter. Evening sections
are offered Fall, Winter and Spring Quarters; it is also offered in the Math Center.
