Math 60: Introduction to Algebra

Course Description
Math 60 is an introduction to the concepts of algebra. and is intended for students who have had little or no algebra. Topics include: operations on signed numbers; solution of linear equations; exponents; fractions; and a review of some properties and operations of arithmetic.
Who should take this course?
Generally, students who place into Math 60 via the Accuplacer placement test. Students who complete this course usually go on to take Math 80 and then Math 90.
Who is eligible to take this course?
The prerequisite is Math 40 with a 2.0 or better, or an appropriate score on the Accuplacer placement test.
Is this course transferable?
This course does not transfer to a four-year university such as the University of Washington.
What textbook is used for this course?
A workbook specifically designed for this course is available from the EdCC Bookstore.
When is this course offered?
Math 60 is offered each quarter, including Summer Quarter; it is also offered in the Math Center.
